Steven Edward Czarnecki, Jr.

Mr. Steven Edward Czarnecki, Jr., 66, of Midland City, died Wednesday evening, October 24, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2012, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Reverend Joel Laseter and Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Enon Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M. There will also be a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A. M. Sunday, October 28, 2012, at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Ozark.

Steve Czarnecki was born June 11, 1946 in Haywood County, North Carolina. He often fondly reminisced of his childhood days in Catholic School where the nuns there taught him ballroom dancing and baseball. After graduation he attended Georgia State in Atlanta and soon settled in Ozark, Alabama.  He operated Chism Truck Stop for 20 years and had been owner/operator of Southfield Environmental since 1991.  Steve moved to Echo, Alabama in 1995 where he lived with his wife of 17 years surrounded by his children and grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Edward Czarnecki, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Preston Czarnecki of Midland City; two daughters and one son-in-law, Alisha and Aaron Day of Freeport, Florida, Stacy Turner of Atlanta, Georgia; three sons and one son-in-law, Eric and Jane Czarnecki of Naples, Florida, Chad Czarnecki of Orlando, Florida, and Josh Czarnecki of Orlando, Florida; his mother, Lucille Wood Czarnecki of Clyde, North Carolina; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Gary Bryan of Milton, Florida, Susan and Charles Codgill of Clyde, North Carolina, Margaret Czarnecki of Clyde, North Carolina; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tony Czarnecki and Eileen Lakin of Bakersfield, California, Lee Czarnecki of Clyde, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Austin Czarnecki, Noah, Lilyana and Rosemary Day.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in his memory to Department of Human Resources Foster Care, C/O Sabra Branch, 513 Carroll Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
