In just over a week Little Miss National Peanut Festival, Emily Turner, and Miss National Peanut Festival, Whitney DeVane, will help Dothan welcome thousands of people into town.

Though the two were just recently crowned, they've already gotten their big smiles and welcoming waves down to an art. Both were full of glitz and glam to beat out dozens of girls for the coveted title, but it's much deeper than that.

To each girl the peanut festival is about memories and they are full of knowledge about the crop that thrives all of these festivities.

"It's something very special to our community; it's what we're known for, "said Miss National Peanut Festival, Whitney DeVane with a smile.

"I learned that you could use peanuts for lipstick, shampoo, and all sorts of stuff, "proudly explained Little Miss National Peanut Festival, Emily Turner.

The girls both agree they look forward to the fun the festival will bring, but just as high on their list of excitement is the food--and of course peanuts is at the top of their menu.

"You've got to try the boiled peanuts and corndogs!" -Emily Turner said with excitement.

Tickets for the National Peanut Festival are on sale now at the office and ticket sales will begin at the fair ground on Monday.
