It's been nearly four months since Chris Thomas was killed in an officer involved shooting in Dothan. Thomas was shot by a Dothan Police Officer June 28th in a shopping plaza on Montgomery Highway. In a press conference following the shooting Dothan Police Chief Greg Benton said, Thomas tried to run over an officer after refusing to stop his car during a traffic stop. The officer then pulled his gun and fired five shots---at least one of them striking Thomas. An eyewitness said the shots were fired at near point blank range.
Thomas's family took to the streets with signs protesting in front of the Houston County Courthouse Tuesday morning.
Thomas's mother, Catherine, said she wants answers into the investigation of his death but she hasn't had any luck getting answers.
""The main thing this is about is justice because it's too many killings going on without justice and every time you look around there's no justice," said Catherine Thomas.
Catherine said she hopes Tuesday's protest will shed new light into her son's investigation.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation has looked into the matter. Dothan Police Chief Greg Benton said the case has now been sent to the Houston County District Attorney and at this time there are no allegations of wrong doing from the officer involved.
