Auburn Coach Gene Chizik's Mother Passes Away

The mother of Auburn head football coach Gene Chizik, Rita Chizik, died early Monday morning.  The announcement came from the university.

"The Chiziks appreciate the prayers and support that have been sent from the Auburn family. We ask that everyone respect the family's privacy during this difficult time," Auburn University said in a prepared written statement.

No additional information was released and funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

Rita Chizik was 86 years old.
