"I'm still beyond words here. I thought we could win the game, then I went and watched them warm-up and that has been as about of good of looking football team that has walked in here from the Sun Belt in a long time. They've got players and they played like it. Mario Cristobal is top notch man, dad and a heck of a coach. They got us a bunch early and we sort of caught on and figured out something's and simplified a bit on defense and went to work and started making plays. The closer we got to them, score-wise, the better we got and I think a lot of that is the pressure that the score puts on an offensive team as far as your plays call. Our guys were inspired and played hard also.
"I don't remember how many times we've won like that. It sure is sweet and I hope I get a chance to get another. But, I really like those wide-spread wins instead of those close ones."
"It's awesome, you know we've played some pretty good teams here, including FIU today. We played Mississippi State here and the top three teams. Those are pretty high magnitude tams in our league. We've got a good routine for home games. We try to do it right. I think it has to do with the competition and how you play that day."
On FIU's early success on offense
"There are a lot of things that had to do with that. It was fresh; everybody is fresh early in the game. They did some things really unique like throw back into the seams and it looked like we totally lost coverage on the deep balls. We got sort of locked in on a few calls that fit us against them. We did blitz him (FIU quarterback Jake Medlock) a little bit and got him sort of antsy and jumping around a bit. If they had him earlier in the year, they are liable to be in the chase right now."
On how Troy adjusted to FIU in the second half
"These guys are pretty resilient, they want to do good. We've had a few issues away from the field but not many. We've dealt with them and they've handled them like men and we're moving on. Here we are, and we've got opportunities to win games and every game we've been in the hunt. We've had a chance to win against everyone we've played here. The things that always kill you like penalties and turnovers. I think has the score got closer they got more predictable and they got less aggressive and got in tune with them."
On the play of Troy quarterback Deon Anthony in first career start
"Well I'm glad he's here. We've played him and I think the ability to play him in conjunction with Corey (Robinson) has given him a chance to warm up to the level of competition. His guys helped him, but he made all kind of plays. I'm sure our team is proud of him to help us get in a position to win the game. "
