Coroner: Diabetic Attack Likely Led To Woman's Wreck, Death

Updated: October 18, 2012
A diabetic attack likely caused a wreck that took a woman's life Wednesday night when the car she was driving ran under a mobile home parked on a sales lot.  Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd identified the victim as Christine Weed, 81, who lived on Barrington Road, barely two miles from where the accident occurred.

"She was a diabetic and probably was having some type of seizure as she drove north on Montgomery Highway," Byrd said.  Ms. Weed's car struck another just north of Solomon Chevrolet.  "It appears she never attempted to correct her course and the can ran under the mobile home," according to the veteran coroner.

It appears, despite earlier reports, that only two cars were involved in the accident. Dothan Police Sergeant Rachel David said the driver of the second car received only minor injuries.
