Wanda Knopp

Mrs. Wanda Knopp, a resident of Dothan, died peacefully Monday, October 15, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family, after a brave and heroic battle with cancer. She was 62.

Funeral services for Mrs. Knopp will be held at 3 PM Friday, October 19, 2012 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverends Jim Tate and Larry Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Knopp was born in Columbus, Georgia and moved to the Dothan area when she was very young. Her father was a share cropper, which kept them on the move. Being raised in a family of eight children and working from a young age taught her values and work ethics that rewarded her as she raised her children and watched each one get married and have grandchildren for her to share these values with. Her inspiration and pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Each and everyone was precious to her. Mrs. Knopp worked at Showell Farms for 18 years in the Personnel office. In 1994, Wanda and her husband started a flatbed trucking company. It began with one truck and is now a successful fleet with the help of her two sons. Wanda was a member of Memphis Baptist Church.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Horace Kennedy, former husbands, Larry Harrison and Don Rayburn Williams.

Survivors include her husband, John W. Knopp, Dothan, daughters, Kaye Evans (Mark), Dothan, Heather Carpenter (Shaun), Wicksburg; sons, Don R. Williams, II (Carly), Dothan, Alan Williams (Janue), Dothan; step-son, Kevin Knopp, Panama City; step-daughter, Ashley Horton (Jeremy), Panama City; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; sisters, Mary Martin (James), Dothan, Janice Lewis (Hershell), Dothan, Gloria Mitchell (Ed), Dothan, Linda Wakefield (Bill), Hartford, Elaine Tingle (Billy), Rehobeth, Penny Jones, Dothan; brothers, Jeff Kennedy, Dothan Kelly Kennedy, Donalsonville; several nieces and nephews.
