Hortense P. Minshew

Mrs. Hortense P. Minshew of Geneva passed away Oct. 14, 2012. She was 84. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Murray Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Minshew was born in Dale County, AL on July 5, 1928 to the late Jess Pouncey, Sr. and Ida Love Martin. She was employed at Clinton Mills for more than 50 years. She taught Sunday school at the First Assembly of God Church and later at Faith Temple for many years. Mrs. Minshew was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Minshew; four brothers, Cecil Anderson, Jess Pouncey, Jr., Harry Nevels and James Nevels; seven sisters, Evelyn Summers, Ruby Anderson, Margaret Newmans, Mary Strickland, Catherine Hester, Johnnie Brazel and Bessie Sconyers.
She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Davis of Anchorage, AK and Betty Sikes of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
