Mary Jean Hackett Harding

Mary Jean Hackett Harding, a resident of Abbeville, died Saturday night, October 13, 2012, in the Henry County Health & Rehabilitation Facility. She was 82. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

            Mrs. Harding was born in Birmingham and reared in Bessemer.  She was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church and was affiliated with First Baptist Church of Abbeville. Mrs. Harding was preceded in death by her parents, John William Hayes and Maggie Johnston Hayes, her husband, David Rees Harding and a brother, John Hackett.

            Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303 or to First Baptist Church of Abbeville "Maintenance Fund", P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310.

            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Deborah J. Mayer, Huntsville; and Lisa Abernathy and husband, Ron, Abbeville; five grandchildren, Allen Mayer, Bryan Mayer, Maggie Abernathy, Emily Abernathy and Jacob Abernathy.
