WALLACE DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENTS RECEIVE HONORS AT DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMAN OF HOUSTON COUNTY AWARDS

Several Wallace College dual enrollment students received honors at the recent 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of Houston County Scholarship Program. The event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Dothan.
 
Contestants are judged on panel evaluation, which is a discussion with the judges, fitness, talent, self-expression, and scholastic achievement.
 
Jean Elizabeth Miles won the overall scholarship prize of $3,750.00.  She also took top honors in the self-expression and scholastic achievement categories. Miles will compete this January in Montgomery for Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama.
 
Other WCC dual enrollment honorees are Jessica Bennett, self-expression; Hannah Brady, Lauren Slingluff Waid Spirit Award; Theresa Fabbrini, Top Eight Honoree; Emily Kingry, scholastic achievement; Maddie Lamere, Top Eight Honoree, Be Your Best Self essay, talent, and scholastic achievement; and Sheridan Pike, Top Eight Honoree, fitness.
 
Miles is a dual enrollment student at Rehobeth High School. Brady is a student at Houston County High School and attends dual enrollment classes at Ashford High School. Bennett, Fabbrini, Kingry, Lamere, and Pike are students at Northview High School and attend dual enrollment classes on the Wallace College -- Dothan campus.
 
To be eligible to enroll in dual enrollment classes at WCC, high school students must be in grades 10, 11, or 12, and have a B average in completed high school courses. For additional information on the dual enrollment program, contact Lynn Lamere, dual credit coordinator, at (334) 556-2627.
