Thunder Beach is an event that brings thousands of people, and their wallets, through the Circle City.

Ken Farley, with the Columbia Baptist Association, is hoping will help his group preach the gospel to travelers.

"Because we are members of a faith group called faith riders, a lot of bikers are interested in talking to us and hearing what we have to say."

There are plenty of bikers stopping by the Baptist Association's booth at Harley Davidson of Dothan.

"We have hundreds or thousands that come through here twice a year, every fall and spring," said Farley.

But this year numbers are down, and Farley says that's because of the tough economy.

"If we have a lot of traffic it'll probably be towards the end of the week," he said. "Some people can't afford to stay long."

"I might spend maybe $40 to $50 in fuel depending on how much I ride," said Terry Johnson, who is headed down to the event on Friday. "I'll be staying with a friend, so that won't cost anything. The biggest thing is the food and stuff like that," said Johnson.
