Betty Rizer Forbes, a resident of Dothan, died Friday morning, October 5, 2012, at her home. She was 79.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 12, 2012, in the Highland Park United Methodist Church with Reverend David Willis officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.
A family graveside service and burial was held Tuesday, October 9, 2012, in Gardens of Memory, between Dothan and Headland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 South Park Avenue, Dothan, AL. 36301.
Mrs. Forbes was born and reared in Marion, Ohio and formerly lived in Melbourne, Florida, Dothan, Clinton, Illinois and Ft. Walton Beach, Florida before returning to Dothan in 2000. She was retired from Metric Systems, Inc. in Ft. Walton Beach. Mrs. Forbes was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church and the Christian Woman's Club in Clinton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Earl Forbes and all her sisters and brothers.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Penny Mobley and husband, Charlie, Newnan, GA and also of Dothan; Cindy Lynn Thomas and husband, Lester, Freeport, FL; and Ana McTigue and husband, Donald, The Villages, FL; two grandchildren, Jason Frith and Jamie Lynn Frith; two nieces, Michelle Hammond and Deborah F. Williams; a great-niece, Caitlin N. Hammond and several other nieces and nephews.
