After the release of an affidavit in which legendary Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt contends she initially thought she was being forced out of her job by Vols athletic director Dave Hart, Summitt released a statement today saying it was her own decision to step down.
"It was entirely my decision to step down from my position as head coach of women's basketball at the University of Tennessee, the statement read, as reported by the Knoxville News Sentinel. "I did not then and do not now feel that I was 'forced out' by the university."
