Several local businesses and first responders spent the day talking with area fifth graders about their careers.
The event was put on by the Dothan Technology Center, and the message was clear.
If children stay in school, they may be able to work in a job like the ones they encountered.
"It helps them see the education that they need, because most of the vendors are telling them to stay in school to be successful," said Terry Scott, the Principal at the Dothan Technology Center.
Over 800 fifth graders took part in the Career Awareness Day.
