HA Raider Run/Walk Set For November 17

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: October 4, 2012
Houston Academy's 4th Annual Raider Run will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012. The 5K run/walk begins on the school's campus at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile "fun run" is set to start at 10 a.m.  The route of the run is around the Brentwood neighborhood. Registration is ongoing, and will remain open until the start of the first run. Registration forms are available on the school's website http://www.houstonacademy.com/.

Houston Academy and the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank are partnering as a community donation site the afternoon of the run. Students will be collecting canned goods at the school from 11-3pm. "We are asking for donations from the community to help the Food Bank get through one of the busiest times of the year," said Elsa Hoffman co-chair of the event. "Thanksgiving Day is not even a week after our run. This is an excellent time to reach out to our neighbors and friends to ask for canned good items.  Items can be dropped off at the school where students will be available to assist you."

"This community wide drive will certainly aid us in feeding the 47,000 needy individuals in our area. We appreciate Houston Academy's involvement in helping our families have a better Thanksgiving," added Julie Gonzalez, Development Director for the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank.

Houston Academy is committed to our community and encourages everyone to participate in food bank collections over this holiday season.
