Providence Christian Seniors To Receive IPads

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: October 2, 2012
All Providence Christian School Seniors will be issued an Apple iPad, Wednesday, Oct. 3rd, at 8:30 a.m. in the school's library.

"This technology will enhance our students' learning experience greatly," said Tom Jones, PCS IT Director. "Students will use the iPads for research purposes; they will also serve as virtual textbooks, supplementing hardback textbooks and print resources."

"Students will read some of their literary works on their iPads, reducing their book load," said Jason Smith, Senior English Teacher.

Educational communication between students and students, and students and teachers, through discussion boards, email, and file sharing will be available during class time and outside school hours.

"This technology gives us [teachers] a mode of communication with our students that surpasses anything that we've had in the past," said Smith. "This coupled with the technical skills they will acquire using and manipulating digital texts will only enrich their education."
