Many parents expressed their opinion on this possibility of this plan and they weren't backing down when it came to finding answers they were looking for.

Superintendent Wilder came to Monday's meeting with answers as to why he says creating "Neighborhood Schools" would benefit all students in Dothan.

"The driving force for me is that I think we have more students in middle school age that could take advantage of an accelerated curriculum we turn down hundreds every year in the magnet school because they don't meet the academic requirements." -explained Wilder

Superintendent Wilder said with this new plan in place there would no longer be students turned down because all students would be given the same opportunities as magnet school students.

That leaves many parents asking, "Will those same opportunities equal what they have now with magnet schools?"

Other parents say they trust the plan the superintendent has in mind and they want to be able to stay in Dothan City Schools, even if their child is not enrolled in a magnet school.

Superintendent Wilder was open to hearing all of the opinions that were expressed at Monday's meeting and he said it was just the beginning of many meetings that will be held before something is decided on this plan.
