The Wiregrass is also known as the "stroke belt," and over 70% of people living here are at risk for a stroke.

Flowers made a big announcement Monday that could mean lives saved from the affects of a stroke.

The hospital announced that it is now one of only seven Primary Stroke Certified Hospitals.

It's the only Primary Stroke Certified Hospital in the Wiregrass.

That certification means people in the Wiregrass have an over 17% chance of survival if they suffer from a stroke, as they will have a local center to go to for help.
