Jimmy Eubanks

Jimmy Eubanks of Slocomb passed away at his home on Sunday, September 30, 2012, after a long 24 plus years battle with cancer. He was 62.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 3, at 10:00 am in the chapel at Sorrells Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Raley, Rev. Larry Newton, Rev. John Baxter and Rev. Brian Cowley officiating.Burial will follow in the Slocomb City Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. At all other times the family will be at 581 N. Morris St.

Mr. Eubanks was born October 23, 1949 to the late James and Maudeline Eubanks. He was a member of the Slocomb First United Methodist Church. He was a Master Mason and Shriner. He was a business owner, having started and owned various businesses: Construction and real estate, Computer Services, durable medical equipment company and Security Company. He contributed to the success of many Slocomb High School, City, Community, Boy Scouts, and Church projects and organizations. For his many contributions, he was awarded Slocomb man of the Year, 2001 and Slocomb High School Alumnus of the year, 2004. He enjoyed construction and loved spending time on the farm, making improvements for family and friends to enjoy. He was a loving father, grandfather, and special uncle who loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Eubanks, Slocomb, two sons: Anthony Eubanks and wife Mandy, Dothan; and Jason Eubanks and wife Katie, Dothan; two grandsons: Bailey and Brayden Eubanks, Dothan; sister-in-law, Ann Helms and husband Keith Helms, Slocomb; brother-in-law, Jimmy Brannon and wife Maria of Hartford; special nieces: Terri Singletary and husband Chad, Montgomery; Melanie Bryan, Birmingham and Allison Johnson, Dothan; several other nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; several cousins; uncle, Gerald Bonner and wife Penny of Hartford; and an aunt, Myrtice Ives of Quitman, GA.

A special thanks to Dr. Scott McAllister, CRNP Allison Johnson, and his entire staff for their care during the years. Jimmy loved all of you and we thank you so much for all your concern and care.

Flowers will be accepted or donations to Slocomb First United Methodist Church.
