Officer Fired After Ticketing Dabo Swinney

Updated: September 27, 2012
A police officer claimed on Thursday that he was fired after issuing a ticket to Clemson Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney for speeding.

South Carolina Police Officer Michael McClatchy issued the ticket on September 3, after clocking Swinney at 65 mph in a 35 mph zone in Pickens.

Word spread fast about Swinney's ticket on message boards. McClatchy was fired later after it was discovered that he posted his version of the story on a South Carolina message board while he was on duty on a department computer.

McClatchy claims he merely edited the post while at work, and believes he was wrongly fired because he didn't let Swinney off without a ticket.
