Marines young and old joined with family and friends from all over the country to pay tribute to
22-year-old Marine Corporal Luther "Stephen" Smith IV, his wife 20-year-old Angel and their 6-month-old son Preston.

The three were traveling back to Quantico, Virginia, where they were stationed when they were killed in a head-on collision.

Smith was remembered for his prestigious military career, but more importantly for his love for life and his family.

"He was so loving, so sweet, and kind-hearted. Especially his wife Angel, she was a sweetheart and the child was so young. He was a great father just as much as he was a friend and marine" -Corporal Kyle Miller reflected.

A loving family that was taken in an unexpected tragedy is something hard to fathom for Marines who see death everyday and watched Corporal Smith put his life on the front lines for our country.

He was known as an honorable leader by his Marine Corp. brothers as he cleared the path for many of them, but they all say more than anything his priority was to protect those he loved most; his wife and son.

The Marine Corp. is making sure all three lives are honored and never forgotten.

"So what we're trying to do is honor not only his military service, but making sure we honor his wife and son." -explained Lt. Col. Randy Hoffman
