Charles Ernest (Charlie) Kindberg, Sr., a resident of Columbia died early Tuesday afternoon, September 25, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. He was 84 years old.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday September 27, 2012, in the Columbia City Cemetery with Pastor Randall Johnson officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kindberg was born in Middletown, New York, son of the late Lloyd Ernest Kindberg and Grace Lillian Roosa Kindberg. He lived most of his lifetime in Middletown and was retired with the State of New York Department of Corrections as a maintenance supervisor. Mr. Kindberg was a WWII Veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1097 and also the St. Paul Methodist Church both in Middletown. Mr. Kindberg lived in Largo, Florida before moving to Columbia in 1982. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Kindberg and a brother, Lloyd A. Kindberg who was killed in action in WWII in 1945.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Patty Ann Kindberg, Columbia; two sons, Daniel Kindberg (Laura), Browns Summit, NC; and Charles Kindberg Jr. (Diane), Middletown, NY; three brothers, Lewis Kindberg (Marylyn), Ocala, FL; Donald N. Kindberg (Teena), Summerfield, FL; and William C. Kindberg (Toni), Lakewood Ranch, FL; four grandchildren, Michael Kindberg, Dominic Kindberg, Tonya Kindberg and Kenny Kindberg and five great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
