The circle city is hoping to attract more companies and more jobs.
City leaders and business owners gathered Wednesday to figure out just how to create jobs for the city at the third annual Economic Summit on Jobs.
"A lot of times it's a question of enticing a lot of businesses and putting our community over other places," said Valerie Harris, the coordinator of the summit.
Harris has coordinated the summit on jobs for the last three years.
During that time, she's seen several companies come and go, but hopes this year's summit can create longer life spans in local businesses.
"That is how a community can grow and heal especially since we had such a bad economic downturn," said Harris.
Mr. Raymond Cheng, the CEO of the SOZO group of china is proof that the summit's message is being well received.
He was the keynote speaker at the summit, and the founder of the Alabama-China partnership.
