Web Extra: Dothan Warehouse Completes Expansion

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: September 18, 2012
Dothan Warehouse is pleased to announce the completed construction

on a 52,000 square foot cold storage facility at the company's 980 Murray Road location,

which is located in the northern section of Dothan, Ala.

"This investment is very important to this area's economy as it provides another

niche to support the efforts to diversify our economy. This investment along with our

continued efforts to collaborate with the Port of Panama City and work on our distribution

and logistical advantage to serve the Southeast economy will continue to create jobs and

speed growth," said Matt Parker, Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce president. "This

project is a multi-million dollar investment and will add more jobs upon full implantation."

City of Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz indicated his appreciation for this investment

and the continued efforts with companies like Dothan Warehouse to invest in the area.

"This is further proof we are building a business climate to spur growth," he said.

Dothan Warehouse is the first public warehouse in this area to earn the prestigious

certification through the British Retail Consortium. The BRC's Global Standard for Food

Safety was formed to establish a standard for due diligence and supplier approval. The

BRC global standards are a set of four industry-leading Technical Standards that specify

requirements to be met by an organization to enable the production, packaging, storage

and distribution of safe food and consumer products. Many UK, North American,

European retailers and brand owners will only consider doing business with suppliers and

warehouses that have gained and maintained certification to the appropriate BRC Global

Standard.

Dothan Warehouse features 6,600 pallet positions with drive in racking and 1.2

million cubic feet of refrigerated storage space. Temperatures are kept as low as 34

degrees Fahrenheit. The facility is divided into two cold storage units and one receiving

area that can simultaneously handle four trucks.

Dothan Warehouse can manage a company's entire refrigerated storage and

shipping operation in their facility, reducing the need for large, expensive capital

improvements. The warehouse can customize its processes and services for unique

needs.

"We also provide a warehouse management system with a scanning capability and

the ability for customers to check inventory online," explained Dothan Warehouse

President Stan Jones. "From loading, unloading, trans-loading, freight consolidation,

freight brokering and repacking, Dothan Warehouse has you covered."
