LaBruce Tidwell

LaBruce Tidwell of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012. Mr. Tidwell was born on September 7, 1923, in Dothan, Alabama, to K.A. and Flossie Tidwell; he lived in Dothan for 86 years prior to moving to Raleigh in 2009.

Mr. Tidwell served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radio operator on the LCT 801. After the war he returned to Dothan and worked at the Dothan Oil Mill. In 1957 Mr. Tidwell joined the U.S. Postal Service where he worked until his retirement in 1985.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Calvin Tidwell. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ice Pearl Tidwell; 1 daughter and her spouse, Nancy and Fran Bourke; 2 sons and their spouses, Lamont and Debbie Tidwell, and Randall and Nancy Tidwell; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and his sister Myra Faye Brackin.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 15 at 10:00AM at Memory Hill. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Hospice of Wake County, located at 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
