Mark
your calendars now for Saturday, Sept. 29, when the Auburn University
College of Agriculture, the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station and
the Alabama Cooperative
Extension System host "Ag Discovery Adventure: A Window to the Future"
at the E.V. Smith Research Center in Shorter. The 3,816-acre E.V. Smith
Center is located at Exit 26 on Interstate 85, between Montgomery and
Auburn.
The
free event is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will offer Alabamians an
up-close look at 21st-century agriculture. The lineup for Ag Discovery
Adventure is diverse
touching many different aspects of agriculture. There will be tour
wagons pulled by autoguided tractors, high-tech treasure hunts using
GPS, a corn maze, milking demonstrations and many other activities. But
each activity is designed to introduce people of
all ages and walks of life to the wide world of agriculture from crop
and animal production to bioenergy and sustainability.
The gates open at 8:30 a.m.
People
are free to explore activities at their own pace. But there are some
scheduled activities for the main stage, including a game show where
audience members
test their knowledge of agriculture using interactive clickers.

Ag
Discovery Adventure is set for the open weekend in Auburn University's
football schedule and offers a great way to spend a fall day with the
family. You can bring
a picnic lunch or visit any of the several food vendors that will be on
hand for a snack or meal. Additionally, handicapped parking will be
available.
