People all over the world are uniting this week in raising awareness about suicide prevention and Dothan is taking part to bring remembrance to those affected in the Wiregrass.

The Wiregrass Suicide Prevention Center hosted their first-ever candlelight ceremony Monday evening and many people turned out to light a candle in hopes putting a face with suicide statistics,

Over the past several years there have been over 650 suicides in Alabama and for those affected  that statistic is more than just a number; it's about family members and friends.

The center spends most of its time trying to keep people from committing suicide, but on Monday they took time tonight to remember those that have already been affected.

They say this candlelight ceremony will be something they continue and they hope the awareness it brings can help lower the number of suicides.
