Bryant Williams

Bryant Williams, a resident of Columbia, died early Friday morning, September 7, 2012, at his home. He was 81.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, September 9, 2012, in the Columbia United Methodist Church with Dr. Walter Reeder and Reverend Freddie McCain officiating.Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Columbia, AL 36319 or Alacare Hospice, 3379 West Main St., Dothan, AL 36305

Mr. Williams was born and reared in Henry County, near Columbia, son of the late Perry Koonce Williams and Evie Mae Bryan Williams.He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of Columbia and was a member of the Columbia United Methodist Church.He attended Wallace Technical College.Mr. Williams was retired, due to disability, from Ansell Inc. as a machinist.He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Christensen, and two brothers, Gordon Williams and Max Williams.

Surviving relatives include his wife Lois Pybus Williams, Columbia; a daughter Diane Ellison and husband, Steve, Webb, AL; two sons Randy and wife, Christi, Columbia; Brian Williams and wife, Sandy, Columbia; two sisters,Evelette McCorkle, Donalsonville; and Jackie Creel, Lyons, GA; a brother Jerome Williams and wife Cheryl, Picayune, MS; a sister-in-law, Louise Williams, Columbia; six grandchildren, Randall Williams (Jody), Terri Williams (Noel), Christopher Williams, Elysse Doswell (Russell), Jennifer Evans and Samantha Evans; five great grandchildren, Alana Wheeler, Noah Williams, Collin Wheeler, Ellie Anna Williams and Malachi Ray.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jim Haney, Jimmy Haney, Herman Spooner, Dwaine Williams, Donald Williams and Russell Doswell.
