Courtney Adams was just 32 years old. She was from Ewell, a community near Ozark.

She died after her small car was hit by another vehicle on highway 231 in front of the Troy Dothan campus.

The accident happened at the entrance of Wood Spring Apartments.

A vehicle was stopped in a northbound lane trying to turn left when it was struck by a pickup truck.

Courtney's car was also involved in the collision and burst into flames.

Her two young children were pulled to safety by a resident of the apartment complex. She could not be saved.

People living in those apartments say the entrance to the complex is extremely dangerous.

It has no turning lane or red light, and the speed limit in that area is 65 miles per hour.

They say the intersection was an accident waiting to happen.

Several people in the apartment complex said they are hoping to start a petition to get a turning lane.

WDHN contacted the state department of transportation about residents' concerns and got this response:

"Statistics show that 95% of all crashes are caused by driver error or driver behavior. The department of transportation routinely reviews crash reports and data in an effort to make Alabama's highways as safe as possible. The police reports from Tuesday's crash will be reviewed--But it's important for all drivers to remember they hold the keys to safer roadways. We always should buckle up, obey speed limits and avoid distractions while driving."
