Dorothy Dolores Byers

Dorothy Dolores Byers, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Henry County Health and Rehab in Abbeville, AL. She was 82.
Memorial services for Mrs. Byers will be held at 1 PM Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mrs. Byers was born March 24, 1930 in Lena, Mississippi to Willie Coyt and Lena Zachry Dowdle. She moved to Chickasaw, Alabama and began her nursing career and there she met her husband of 52 years, Jim Byers. Mrs. Byers was a faithful member of St. Columba and volunteered at the Catholic Social Services for many years. She was a Christian woman who never met a stranger and loved taking care of people.
Mrs. Byers is preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Paul Lane Byers.
Survivors include her children, Margaret Miller (Jay), Panama City, FL, Mike Byers (Ginger), Dothan, Larry Byers (Vicki), Seattle, WA, Patty Byers, Dothan; 13 grandchildren, sister, Linda Oliver (Mike), Fairhope, AL and a brother, Bill Dowdle (Jenny), Yuma, AZ.
