The accident happened in front of Troy University's Dothan campus around 7:00 and involved a small car, a SUV, and a pick-up.
WDHN's Kevin Presley talked with witnesses who said one of the vehicles was trying to turn into the Woodspring Apartment Complex when it was struck by another vehicle. Witnesses say the small car was also struck and burst into flames. Two small children inside were pulled to safety by a resident of the apartments. The man attempted to put out the fire and rescue the unresponsive woman but was unable to save her.
Two other people involved in the wreck were treated for unspecified injuries.
Residents of the apartment complex told WDHN this accident comes as no surprise. They say there should be a turn lane from northbound 231 into the complex.
UPDATE
The driver has been identified as 32 year old Courtney Adams of Ozark.
