Armistead: "Tonight We Stand With Romney to Restore America's Greatness"

Alabama Republican Party Chairman, Bill Armistead, released the following statement preceding Governor Mitt Romney's acceptance of the Republican Party nomination for president:

"Our country is at a crossroads unlike any we've experienced in our history. For many decades we have watched our federal government slowly expand, ever encroaching into areas of our lives it has no business being.  During the last four years, government growth has exploded exponentially under the direction of President Barack Obama, while stifling growth in the private sector. He is unapologetic about the devastating economic policies that have left our nation floundering and Americans struggling just to make ends meet. In fact, he has claimed that his plan 'worked' and that the private sector is 'doing just fine'.

"In Alabama, we know this is simply not true. Thousands of Alabamians are still without a job. Gas prices continue to soar and grocery bills outpace income. Alabamians feel defeated right now and know that we can't continue down the same path, expecting different results. It's time for a change.

"Tonight marks the beginning of a new direction for our country. Tonight we stand together for the ideals and principles that made this country great. Tonight we stand against the belief that America's best days are behind us. Tonight, we will watch Governor Mitt Romney accept the Republican nomination for President of the United States and begin the journey back to prosperity and freedom, preserving the American dream.

"America needs a leader who has experience, knowledge and proven success when it comes to job creation and economic progress. Governor Romney has practical, real world business experience in saving failing businesses and creating jobs in the private sector. America needs a leader who recognizes the sanctity of marriage and the vital role that traditional family values have played in shaping the fabric of our nation. Governor Romney is a man of faith, devoted to his family and willing to share his success with others, empowering people to believe that they can be successful too.

"America needs a leader who will surround himself with capable men and women who have proven track records of implementing ideas that work. Governor Romney's choice of Congressman Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential running mate shows he is willing to listen to the best and brightest in order to bring out the finest ideas of how to get our economy moving again.

"Governor Romney will not fail us. The reason he will not fail us is because he believes in America. He understands that we must return to the principles of liberty that made us the most prosperous nation in the world. He knows that America's best days are still to come. Tonight, we stand with Mitt Romney, in the strength of our convictions, to restore America's greatness as we fight for our American dream."
