Updated: August 20, 2012
Head coach Steve Spurrier has been forced to shelve cornerback Akeem Auguste and running back Shon Carson indefinitely for a pair of injuries they sustained last week.

Auguste tore a muscle in his right thigh during the Gamecock's scrimmage on Saturday. The projected starting cornerback missed the 2011 season with a foot injury.

Carson had surgery today on his left wrist after getting hurt on Friday during practice.

He played in just two games last season as a true freshman.

The ninth ranked Gamecocks open up their regular season schedule on Thursday, Aug. 30 against Vanderbilt.
