Billy Wayne Jernigan

Billy Wayne Jernigan, a resident of Corinth, Texas, formerly of Headland, died early Wednesday morning, August 15, 2012, in the Autumn Oaks Assisted Living in Corinth. He was 74.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 18, 2012,in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Reverend Wayne Newton officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary.
Mr. Jernigan was born and reared in Cottonwood, son of the late Noel Douglas Jernigan and Bonnie Dell Love Jernigan. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Jernigan lived in Headland most of his adult lifetime before moving to Corinth in 2010. He was a member of the Kinsey United Methodist Church. Mr. Jernigan was a retired electrician. Mr. Jernigan was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Gillman, Merle Wilks and Audrey Carmichael.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Joyce Parker Jernigan, Corinth, Texas; a daughter, Janet Jernigan Rich and husband, Mike, Lantana, Texas; a son, Greg Jernigan, Huntsville, Alabama; a sister, Jeretha Brannon, Columbus, GA; two grandchildren, Tiffany Halk and husband, Darrell, and Michael Rich; two great-grandchildren, Rylie Halk and Macee Halk.
