Tolna Savelle DeShazo

Tolna Savelle DeShazo, a resident of Headland, died Sunday morning, July 29, 2012, at her home. She was 94.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 31, 2012, in the Hebron Baptist Church with Reverend Don Moore and Reverend Ted Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL. 36303.

Mrs. DeShazo was born near Haleburg and was reared in the Hebron Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Virgil Clarence Savelle and Mary Caroline Granberry Savelle. She lived all her adult lifetime near Tumbleton. Mrs. DeShazo was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville. After her retirement, she worked as a caregiver in private homes. Mrs. DeShazo was preceded in death by her husband, Remus Edward DeShazo and a brother, Kermit Savelle.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Margo DeShazo Apida and husband, Bob, Headland; a son, Eddy DeShazo and wife, Julie, Dothan; a sister, Jewell Taylor, Newville; a brother, Virgil Clarence Savelle, Jr. and wife, Rebecca, Headland; six grandchildren, Michele Apida, Robert Apida and wife, Niki, Brandon Apida and wife, Jennifer, Krysti Wisener and husband, Josh, Adam DeShazo and wife, Amy, and Justin DeShazo and wife, Lauren; five great-grandchildren, Cooper, Brody, Caroleine, Jaxton and Gillian; special friends, O'Neal Shelley, Mary DeShazo and Gayle Wade.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Ronny Nowell, Rhett Taylor, Mickey DeShazo, Larry Savelle, Ronnie Shelley and O'Neal Shelley.
