Dothan National Night Out Plans Announced

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: July 17, 2012

The Dothan Police Department is excited to announce that the 2012 National Night Out is quickly approaching! The concept of the National Night Out began in the 1980's in an effort to heighten awareness and strengthen participation in local anticrime efforts. The founder of the program believed that a high-impact type of crime prevention event was needed nationally and so began National Night Out, 'America's Night out against Crime'.

Last year, the citizen's of Dothan, Alabama joined in this national effort to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie. Our community proudly joined millions of people nationwide to represent the spirit of our community and determination of our citizens to make our neighborhoods safer places throughout the year.

This year The Dothan Police Department will once again join forces with other local law enforcement agencies, Dothan Fire Department, United States Military, Child Advocacy Center, Target, Dothan Leisure Services, and various other organizations to promote crime and drug prevention throughout the City of Dothan/Houston County for the 29th Annual National Night Out on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Dothan Civic Center Arena.

We are looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones! So please make plans to join us and bring the whole family! Everyone can come and enjoy Law Enforcement Demonstrations, Archery, Inflatable Jumpers, Visits from McGruff, Knight of the Night, Car Show, Live Entertainment, Food Drive, Drum Line and much more! See you there!
