Airbus is coming to Alabama and creating thousands of jobs, but will Dothan benefit from the new company's presence? One commissioner says, perhaps.

Hamp Baxley said Dothan has three key things making it an ideal location for an Airbus supplier to locate here.

Baxley says our strong aviation presence, our connection with Mercedes Benz, and two wide-body hangers could help Dothan land an Airbus supplier.

"We're already going to have people who understand aviation components and aviation education.  When they know that we have a population with a skill set that can work in aviation it puts us above everybody else," explained Baxley.

Baxley said if a supplier locates here it means hundreds of jobs in our area.

"This means high wage and high education jobs. These jobs are stable," continued Baxley.

Airbus hopes to begin operation in its Mobile plant by 2015. The plant is expected to cost $600 million to build and will employ 1,000 people when it reaches full production.
