Odis Joe Carr of Samson

Mr. Odis Joe Carr of Samson, Alabama passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012.He was 84.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, in the Lime Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. John Wesley Spivey officiating.The family will receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and continue until service time.Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing.

Mr. Carr was born November 6, 1927, in Dale County, Alabama.In his early years he owned and operated a dozier business.He later was employed and after several years of service retired from the Geneva County Road and Bridge Department as a heavy equipment operator.He was a member of Lime Springs United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, his wife and mother of his children, Toxie Carr, a daughter, Patsy Howell, two grandchildren, Jeff Grimes and Janey Chamblee, as well as four brothers and three sisters, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters: Agnes Chamblee (Royce) of Kinston and Wilda Grimes (Pat) of Ozark; two special granddaughters who were his caregivers: Regina Sanders (Mark) of Kinston and Sandy Jones of Samson, along with seven other grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
