Updated: July 12, 2012
U.S. Representative Martha Roby announced today that Robert L. Gurley III, from Dothan, is currently serving as a Congressional intern in her Washington D.C., office.

In the office, Gurley is helping with legislative and administrative duties on behalf of the people of Alabama. Gurley recently graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Development Sociology, where he also earned a varsity letter on the football team. Additionally, he was a member of Cornell University Black Entertainment, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Alpha Zi Business fraternity, and The League of Extraordinary Athletes.

While serving, Congressional interns observe and take part in the workings of the United States Congress. Experience gained from these internships help students develop knowledge of the government and various policy issues, as well as professional skills that will be valuable in future pursuits.

Gurley is a 2007 graduate of Houston Academy. His parents are Mr. Robert L Gurley Jr. and Ms. Trentino Gurley from Enterprise, Alabama.
