Dothan Tigers Taking The Initiative

When Dothan High School hired former Houston County High School head boy's basketball coach, Emanuel Brown last month to the same position, Principal Stan Eldridge told him changes needed to be made to Jon Davis Gym, where the squad practices and plays its games. And just two weeks after Brown took over, his team wanted to show its new leader they were ready to help.
Three weeks ago, the Tigers' boy's basketball team took it upon themselves to paint the gym and the locker room, as a sign of mutual respect between the players and their coach.
"Coach is fair and he's just a good man. So everybody just came together, just painted the gym and we just did what we had to do," said junior Destin Gaskin.
"They're showing me first of all that they are motivated to make a change around here. I think they are wanting to make a change for the better and this is just the beginning. And I hope the hard work they are doing here in the gym pays off and carry over onto the basketball court when the season gets here," said Brown.
