A Kathleen teen has been arrested for allegedly murdering her younger sister and setting their house on fire.

Houston County Fire Units were responding to a house fire in Kathleen, Georgia, on July 3 at 7 p.m. when firefighters found the body of 12-year-old India Collins inside the house. She was transported to a medical facility where she was pronounced dead.

Houston County Sheriff's Office Detectives were called in to investigate the death. They determined that Ms. Collins did not die from the fire but had been shot. Investigation of the scene revealed there was a handgun and vehicle missing from the residence.

Further investigation determined 17-year-old Carmen Kaneisha Collins, older sister of India, as a suspect. Information was received indicating Carmen Collins was in the Columbus area. She was located several hours later in the Bunker Hill neighborhood driving her parent's car, which was the missing vehicle from Kathleen.

Carmen Collins was arrested on the Houston County warrants for murder and arson in the first degree. She is being held in the Houston County jail.
