Enterprise Police Warning Of New Scam Against Senior Adults

The Enterprise Police Department would like to make the public aware of a current scam targeting primarily the elderly.
The scam is perpetrated by phone and the caller claims to be selling medical cards to supplement the victim's Medicare coverage. The caller asked the victim for personal information including bank account numbers and bank routing numbers. The caller gives the victim a phone number for contacting them but the number is not a valid number.
This is just another way that scammers attempt to obtain personal information from their victims in order to steal their identity or money. The police department would like to remind all citizens to protect their personal information using the following tips;
Do not feel pressured to make an impulsive decision. Legitimate sales offers will still be good after you have had a day or two to consider the offer.
Do not give your credit card information,
your checking account number or any other
personal information out to unknown callers.
Do not be afraid to hang up on a telemarketer
or scammer. They will be not have their feelings
hurt but will simply move on to the next
victim.
Be aware that telemarketers may have bits and
pieces of your personal information and will
lead you to believe they have all of your information.
DO NOT confirm any account information
over the telephone or internet.
