Martha Louise Watley Morgan

Martha Louise Watley Morgan, 73, of Dothan passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at a local hospital.


Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Maj. Danny Odom (USMC Ret.) and Rev. C.J. Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 pm in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery in the Rose Hill Community. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 37097 Straughn School Road, Dozier, AL, 36028.


Mrs. Morgan was born August 9, 1938 in Andalusia, AL and was a 1956 graduate of Andalusia High School. She met and married Donald Ray Morgan with whom she recently celebrated her 56th wedding anniversary. She was employed as a stay at home mom but also with Flowers Hospital, JC Penney for 23 years and at Morgan Dental Laboratory for over 10 years. She enjoyed cooking her family's favorite foods, canning jellies and watching Alabama football. Her main focus for the last 3 years was taking care of her husband who readily admits he could not have made it without her. She will be missed by her Chihuahuas, Princess and Lighting.


Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Franklin Watley and Orie Ester Butler Watley Taylor, her sister Kathryn Watley Lanier, and her brothers, Pat Watley and Junior Watley.


Survivors include her husband Donald Ray Morgan, Sr. of Dothan; her children, Rebecca (Jack) Barkley of Dothan, Elizabeth (Robert) Cole of Dothan, Donna (Steve) Blackerby of Dothan, Ray (Dawn) Morgan of Dothan, and Sam Morgan of Dothan; grandchildren, Danielle (Bill) Hall of Dothan, Amanda Barkley of Dothan, Travis Morgan of Birmingham, Caroline Barkley of Dothan, Jacob Blackerby of Dothan, and Ryan Morgan of Dothan; a great-granddaughter Gabraelle Hall; a brother James Winford (Mary Jean) Watley of Pensacola, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.


Pallbearers will be James Norris, David Watley, Ray Rogers, Joe Thompson, Jacob Blackerby, and Brad Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Baker, and Derek Yarbrough.


The family would like to express their heartfelt thankyou to the nursing staff at Southeast Alabama Medical Center CCU, especially Lisa, Kim and Allison.
