Dothan Police Arrest Man After Weekend Shooting Injures One

On June 24, 2012 the Dothan Police Department responded to a local hospital regarding an assault involving a gun shot.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim who stated he was standing in the yard of a residence in the 1200 block of Persimmon Street when he heard two gun shots. He stated that he felt something warm and looked down and saw blood on his shirt and realized he had been shot in the jaw.

The victim said he only heard the shots and did not know who, or where the shots came from. The victim was treated for a non life threatening gun shot wound to the right side of his lower jaw.

Patrol officers responded to the scene and began investigating during which time they spoke to witnesses on scene and located the suspect, Rex Lemons in the immediate area. Lemons was arrested for assault.

     Rex Lemons, black male, 62 years of age, of Persimmon Street was arrested and charged with First Degree Assault bond being established later today.
