Some Gulf Oil Rigs Evacuate In Advance Of Tropical Storm Debby

Forecasters say Debby will bring rain to the Gulf Coast from Southern Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle. To side step a potential threat, Gulf of Mexico energy platforms have started evacuations and shutdowns.

One has even moved into our area. This picture (see video above) was sent to us from our viewer, Mark Clabaugh.

Mark says the picture was taken nearly 12 miles off the coast of Pensacola.

The National Hurricane Center says this is the first time four tropical storms have been recorded before July 1 during the Atlantic Hurricane Season since record keeping began in 1851.
