Mrs. Bennie Frank Owens Lewis of Ashford passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at her residence. She was 91.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Watermark Church in Ashford with Reverend Todd Thorpe officiating. Burial will follow inAshford City Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, June 22, 2012. Flowers will be accepted.
Mrs. Lewis was born September 19, 1920, in Ashford, AL, the daughter of the lateBenjamin Franklin Owens and Willie Pearl Rhodes Owens. She was a member of Watermark Church. Mrs. Lewis taught school for 30 years at Harmon and Ashford and home economics was her major. She loved her family and friends and always put others before herself. She was considered everybody's mother. She was an excellent example of Proverbs 31.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Bill Lewis of Ashford; son, John Lewis and his wife, Sheila of Ashford; two grandchildren, Joe Lewis and Kelly Bouldin, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
