A Destin woman is charged with child neglect after a nine-year old child in her care was found walking alone down Highway 98 around 9:15 p.m. June 15th.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy stopped and made contact with the child after he spotted him walking beside the busy roadway. The youngster had walked approximately a mile from a restaurant after he and 36-year old Leanne Tosney Weeks had gotten into an argument. The deputy says she had made no attempt to locate or take responsibility for the nine-year old.

When Weeks was located at the restaurant, she was in the parking lot in her car, with a five year old passenger in the back.

The deputy saw an open alcoholic beverage container in the car and smelled a strong odor of alcohol.

Weeks blood alcohol level registered at .237%.

The Okaloosa Sheriff's Office has charged her with D.U.I. and child neglect.
