Former Commissioner's Murder Trial Moved To Dothan

By: Staff Report
Updated: June 12, 2012

The murder retrial of former Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine will be heard in Dothan.  A judge ordered the proceedings shifted to the Houston County Courthouse because of excessive pre-trial publicity.

Nodine faces charges he murdered real estate professional Angel Downs with whom he had a long-running affair. He contends Downs shot herself.

His first trial ended when a jury was unable to reach a verdict.  The retrial is set for September.
