Visit Enterprise To Host Patriotic Competition

By: Stephen Crews
Updated: June 3, 2012
Visit Enterprise, partner of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a decoration contest for everyone in the city of Enterprise in honor of being selected a finalist in the Rand McNally/USA Today "Best of the Road" Competition in the category of "Most Patriotic".

Tourism officials are asking all citizens of Enterprise to show their patriotism during the timeframe of June 15th through July 4th by decorating their business, offering special military themed sales, offering patriotic-themed menu items, decorating the family, decorating the home, decorating the car, or decorating the lawn.

There will be two competitions during the contest period of June 15th-July 4th: A people's choice "Show Your Spirit" competition, and a "Home-Grown" Photo Contest.

The "Show Your Spirit" Voting Competition will be held June 15th through July 4th.  Businesses are encouraged to decorate the outside or inside of their business, sell special American-themed items, or even get the office together and dress in your best July 4th gear.  The outsides of participating businesses must be decorated throughout the entire competition to receive votes.

Participating businesses are encouraged to collect votes for the competition. Please call 334-347-0581 for an official voting box.  Participating businesses must notify director@visitenterprise.com before June 15th, as a special stop-by from the Rand McNally/USA Today Road Crew may happen during the voting period, which will immediately give your business national and international recognition.  Make sure to take plenty of photos and share on Facebook as well as send to director@visitenterprise.com so we can share how much spirit your business has for America.  Voting boxes must be delivered to the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Tourism Office on July 5th for official review.

Voters are only allowed one vote during the competition, so encourage your friends and family to participate.  You are allowed to vote if you live in, or are visiting Enterprise.  There is no age limit to enter a vote.  The winner of the competition will be decided by the most number of votes after July 5th, and will receive lunch for the business and staff (up to 15 people), delivered by the Visit Enterprise staff.

An official voting form may be picked up at any participating business who has an official voting box, in the Army Flyer advertisement on June 21st, in the Enterprise Ledger on June 24th, or online at www.visitenterprise.com on the home page.  You may also vote by posting on the Visit Enterprise or Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Facebook pages.

Make sure to vote, and share how to contact you on the voting form, because you can win!  From the voting population, one winner will be randomly selected to receive dinner for four at a local restaurant.  The selection will be made on or after July 6th.

The "Home Grown" Photo Competition will be held from June 15th through July 4th.  Tourism Officials ask locals to shown their home-grown patriotism by providing photos of your decorated home (inside or outside), photos of your decorated family, decorated cookouts, decorated cars, or anything else that resembles true American spirit.  Photo entries must be received by the close of business on July 5th, and may be dropped off at the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Tourism Office, emailed to info@enterprisealabama.com, or posted to the Visit Enterprise or Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Facebook pages.  You may enter the photo contest more than once, but the photo must be taken within the city of Enterprise to be selected.  Entries will be judged by a locally-selected panel on or after July 10th.  The winner will receive dinner for 6 at a local restaurant.

The two contests will coincide with our entry into the Rand McNally/USA Today "Best of the Road" Road Crew visit, and Enterprise received the nomination based upon our hometown American Spirit.  Whether it is your dog in a bandana, or a business decorated with spirit, everyone in Enterprise has something to be proud about with this achievement, and can help Enterprise win the official title of "Most Patriotic City in the USA".  Make sure to Show Your Spirit between June 15th through July 4th, and you could win big!
