Troy's Blakeney Wants Upgrades to Stadium

Troy University head football coach, Larry Blakeney has preached to the school for some time now that he would like to see upgrades made to Veteran's Memorial Stadium, where the Trojans play their football games.

The institution has made plans to accommodate the 21 year head coach's wishes by building a new facility in the north end zone, however, fundraising for the remodeling is still in its early stages.

"Now is the time to do something like this," Blakeney told The Troy Messenger. "We have got to make an investment in football. We are behind in the Sun Belt with that kind of facility and it's a point we need to deal with."

When the program moved to Division I-A in 2003, Veterans Memorial Stadium was given an $18 million renovation, according to the university's website.
